Jon Pickup, Director USL
Jon Pickup serves as the Director of USL and Midwest General Manager for Kings Hammer Soccer Club, bringing over 25 years of coaching and leadership experience across Columbus, Indiana, and Cincinnati. He holds an USSF ‘A’ License, NSCAA Master Coach Diploma, NSCAA Premier Diploma, and USSF National Youth License.
Originally from England, Jons professional career spanned close to 20 years, playing professionally in England, Ireland, China, and eventually the US, representing the Columbus Xoggz in 1994 and 1995.
Jon’s coached professionally for the Cincinnati Kings in the old USL 2nd Division and was named Head Coach of the year in only his second season. Throughout his youth coaching career, Jon has guided teams to numerous State, Regional, and National Championships. Many of his players advancing to the collegiate, professional and National team level across the United States and overseas.
His extensive background in player development and tactical leadership makes him a valuable asset to the entire program. Jon is dedicated to fostering growth and excellence within the Ohio programs and the broader club community.
Johnny Ulry, General Manager
As the Columbus General Manager, Johnny brings over two decades of coaching experience and a track record of excellence in youth and high school soccer. His leadership at New Albany High School Boys Soccer has earned him numerous accolades, including State Coach of the Year and multiple District and Conference Coach of the Year honors. Under his guidance, the team has achieved significant milestones, including a Division 2 state championship, two state finalist appearances, multiple conference championships, and record-breaking seasons.
Before his tenure at New Albany, Johnny led Hilliard Darby High School Boys Soccer to new heights, setting program records in wins, shutouts, and state rankings. His commitment to fostering talent and building successful programs is evident in every team he coaches.
Holding a USSF National ‘C’ License, Johnny is dedicated to the growth and development of players and the broader soccer community. His strategic vision and passion for the sport make him a driving force behind the success of Kings Hammer FC Columbus.
Chase Vance, Operations Manager
Chase Vance serves as the Operations Manager for Kings Hammer FC Columbus, bringing a strong background in both playing and coaching, as well as leadership experience at the pre-professional level.
Chase began his soccer journey at Indian Lake High School, where he was the top goal scorer in the conference and earned 1st Team All-District honors. He continued his playing career at the University of Northwestern Ohio, becoming the first player recruited and signed to the inaugural men’s program in 2012.
Following his playing career, Chase transitioned into coaching at his alma mater, serving as Assistant Coach for the Indian Lake High School Boys team before becoming Head Coach from 2018 to 2021.
In 2022, Chase took on an ownership role, founding InterColumbus FC, where he served as Owner & President through 2024. Under his leadership, the club achieved a winning record every season, with only three total regular-season losses over three years. His team consistently qualified for the UPSL Conference Playoffs, and in 2024, they won the UPSL Ohio Conference and Division, advancing to the National Playoff Game in New York.
In 2025, Chase joined Kings Hammer FC Columbus as Operations Manager for the club’s USL League Two team. His experience in player development, coaching, and club operations will be integral in supporting the growth and success of Kings Hammer’s USL League Two program.
Daniel Fry, Marketing Coordinator
Daniel Fry brings a wealth of coaching experience and a passion for player development to Kings Hammer FC Columbus. Over his five-year tenure with the club, Daniel has been instrumental in fostering a positive and competitive environment for young athletes. His leadership extends to his role as the Head Coach of Johnstown High School Boys Soccer, where he has built a strong program since 2021. Prior to that, he honed his coaching skills as the Assistant Coach at Big Walnut High School.
In addition to coaching, Daniel serves as the New Albany and Columbus Marketing Coordinator, where he leverages his creative abilities and communication skills to promote the club’s values and programs. Holding a USSF National ‘C’ License, Daniel is dedicated to continuous learning and development. His commitment to excellence on and off the field makes him an asset to the Kings Hammer FC Columbus community.
